3 years ago, the app 'Cada,' the precursor to Walla, introduced the groundbreaking technology of collecting real-time unstructured data (images, locations, etc.) to the research service in South Korea for the first time. Before Walla, researchers, including graduate students, had to go to the field themselves to record data. With Kaeda's growth and integration with Walla, users of Kaeda's panel pool, linked to Walla, could now see the data sent in real-time from all over the country. Researchers no longer needed to go to the field but could immerse themselves in data by looking at Walla's dashboard.
Walla provides an optimized service for location data collection, capable of collecting data based on location or even the location data itself (latitude, longitude coordinates). Esteemed institutions such as the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Seoul National University have been using Walla to collect data.
Gathering Location Data Is a Simple Task
To create a project in Walla, go to [Project Edit].
Click the [+] button in the upper left corner, and you'll see various fields. Among them, select the [Location Recording] field.
Instantly, a map field for recording locations will appear! You can enter questions and descriptions here.
Wait, you might think you need consent to record locations! You're correct. To collect location information, you need the following:
Data Collector: Who is collecting the data.
Purpose of Collection: Why are you collecting it?
Collection Period: How long are you collecting it?
In case you find this complicated, we've also prepared a [Location Information Collection and Consent Form] field. Fill in the blanks appropriately, and it will be transformed into a neat sentence.
Want to Collect Data from a Specific Location?
If you want to collect data from a specific location, such as 'within a 10km radius of Seoul,' try using the Walla [Deploy] feature! Walla displays projects based on location. (Just like Carrot Market!) You can use Walla by clicking on the [Deploy] tab at the top. Projects that have been deployed will be delivered to panelists of our panel app 'Kaeda' all over the country, and data collection will commence.
Want to Collect Street Addresses?
Recently, a customer asked us if Walla can collect street addresses. So, we quickly made it happen!
Walla provides two address fields so that respondents can easily provide addresses, one for Korean-style street addresses and another for international addresses. If it's a non-Korean location, you can choose the country,
and you'll see the address field like this:
Thanks to Walla's location data collection feature, a professor's lab at Seoul National University collected the most cherry blossom data from around the world. Various government agencies conducted surveys based on specific regional locations. Just as Walla brought innovation to the unstructured data market, we will continue to bring innovation to various fields in the future. Please look forward to it!
